Much like Irish Rock Song, we were thinking of coming up with a song that was closer to our Latin/Salsa roots. After all, 3 members of the band started out with the DC-based 10 piece salsa band Movimiento (can you guess who?). Similar to Caminante, our challenge was to come up with an Irish melody with a Latin beat. In this case, the beat was already going to be salsa. After coming up with the basic chords, Neil wrote the melody line and based it off of The Gravel Walk, again, from the Irish session-- a great tune, especially with multi instrumentation. And what can be more awesome than throwing in everyone's favorite Irish jig-- the Irish Washerwoman-- toward the end of the song, in a minor key! We enjoy this one very much and we also have to mention the job Producer Matt does on this-- so many parts involved. Horn parts in the background, percussion all over the place-- reminiscent of our Movimiento days, the hip hop part throughout, and the awesome violin solo, and sick guitar solo with that phenomenal break. We envision playing this one day with a big supporting cast of musicians, how awesome would that be?! Oh, the lyrics you hear on the recording were not the original lyrics. We used to rehearse at Gonzo's house and his dog, Coco, would always be running around going crazy, jumping on people. So we named it after the dog, Coco Loco. Gonzo thought it needed another name, so Neil suggested "Lopez" after the Coco Lopez stuff used to make pina coladas. Eventually, with input from the Matts, those lyrics were changed to what you hear on the recording
lyrics
Dame Sabor 1
Me tiene loco, supa' medication
A la distancia, I feel the connection
She's got on a spell
Affecting all that I can tell
Muchacha ven pa'lante y dame sabor
Dame Sabor2
You come and go and I lack resolution
You call me a fool, but I need a decision
My one desire...Is to feel your body next to mine
Muchacha ven pa'lante y dame sabor Dame Sabor
Chorus/Pregones
Muchacha ven pa'lante y dame sabor
¡Oye como suena sí!
Muchacha ven pa'lante y dame sabor
Mucho sabor, mucho sabor
Muchacha ven pa'lante y dame sabor
Mira como se mueve así
Muchacha ven pa'lante y dame sabor
Mambo 1
Dame sabor
Y dame sabor
Dame sabor
Demonio colorado sí
Dame sabor
Que está bailando al otro lado del salón
Dame sabor
Ahora ven aquí
Dame sabor
Que tonto fui, ahora me decidí
Dame sabor
Mambo 2
Dame sabor
Dame sabor
Me tienes embrujado
Dame sabor
Casi momificado
Dame sabor
Patatuchinchin me suena la cabeza
Dame sabor
Por tu amor y tu compañía
Dame sabor
Me tiene enamorado, dame sabor
Dame sabor

Bagpipes, violin, and a fat horn sound on top of a solid, funky groove. What's not to love? Background parts on Isle of Skye Reel are awesome, as are the Paul Simon-style vocals on Carry It On. La Unica
Celtic music from Argentina incorporating music from Celtic nations! Pipes on Himno del Antiguo Reino de Galicia are impressive. Also love the muniera. La Unica
